| All the organizations referring to the Scientific Institute H. San Raffaele are strongly committed to scientific research aimed at the health and harmony of man's components. Such committment is expressed both in terms of strenghtening the role of research institutions operating in this field, in particular the private ones with a marked social "inclination", and with non-profit purposes, and of the development and social targeting of research activities, so as to enable them to achieve the ambitious goals science aims at today. To this end, along with the Clinical Research Sector, already in operation, the Dipartment for Biothechnologies - DIBIT - is working. This is an organization meant to carry out basic research. It is a fully developing Science Centre for a constructive and stimulating "competition-coordination", with all public and private, national and international bodies operating in the fdield of biomedical research. San Raffaele committment to research draws inspiration from the basic principles characterizing its institution activity. The primary and essential aim of research should be the biopsycho-spiritual revival of man as a "person-image" of God. Research, even when aimed at productive activities, should be channelled towards this ultimate goal. When research aims is the goal, collective and public resouces, no matter what their nature is should be made available to an appropriate extent. |
