| Most people simply refer to it as S.Raffaele and indubitably the most extraordinary feature of our institution is its avant-garde approach not only with regard to internal organisation but also to technical instrumentation and patient-treatment methods. The reason for this excellence is the love of man, of every man, of all men. A love rendered immortal according to the affirmation that God created man in his image. This was the main reason that encouraged our founder, don Luigi M. Verzè to undertake this task, which over the years has progressed through many stages. The patient is the focal point of the health-care service and it is to him that the most advanced technologies, offered by scientific progress, are targeted. The health-care and therapeutic relationship is constantly accompanied and supported by a psychological, social and ethical view of personal requirements. The administrative structure of the institute is divided up into three departments: Preventive, Curative and Rehabilitative Medicine divided up in turn into four different areas: HEALTH-CARE AREA SCIENTIFIC AREA DIDACTIC AREA ADMINISTRATIVE AREA Implementation of this philosophy and the daily achievement of its objectives is made possible by a constant operative connection. All activities pertaining to health-care and educational activity presuppose former research. Hence another reason why San Raffaele is so much more than just a simple hospital. Research means the love of truth, the desire to acquire knowledge, an interest in man as a whole, i.e. his physical, psychological and spiritual well being. An impressive example of investment in research is the Department of Biotechnologies DIBIT where, every day, hundreds of researchers apply themselves to the most advanced frontiers of biology, both basic and applied. . |
